Dill's Tavern

Dills Tavern, stewarded by NYCHAPS, epitomizes centuries of history, dating back to Matthew Dill's ownership in the 1740s. This 12-room stone structure, erected between 1794 and 1819, now serves as an Interpretive & Educational Center, offering an immersive glimpse into 18th and 19th-century tavern life. Alongside reconstructions like a summer kitchen and wheelwright shop, ongoing projects include the reconstruction of a late 1700s log barn, enriching the visitor experience.

NYCHAPS celebrates the region's heritage with the forthcoming Eichelberger Distillery at Dills Tavern, a faithful reproduction of an 18th-century distillery. Throughout the year, visitors can partake in candlelit First Fridays, hearth-cooked dinners, and demonstrations by skilled reenactors. Guided tours on Sundays from April to November provide insights into the plantation's early history, showcasing key sites such as the Dill Tavern, Eichelberger residence, and evolving distillery and barn structures. Discover the vibrant legacy of Dills Tavern, where history comes alive in the heart of York County.
