When deciding where to retire, think of York, Pennsylvania, and you don't have to take our word for it (as we may be a tad biased). Some factors determining ranking include quality of life, healthcare, and low cost of living.

If you seek culinary delights, arts and culture, and American history, York is the place to be! Live amongst vibrant museums, restaurants, and architecture. There are over 30 townships that makeup York County, with just as many sights, flavors, and charms.

There’s Always Something to Do

Retirement here means more time to do the things you love to do, and at any time of the year, too. York County is a four-season destination!

Peruse local art at our galleries and attend a live show at a historic theater. Our arts and culture scene is as vibrant as our history. One minute you’re envisioning a ride on a 1916 trolley at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum. And the next, experiencing what life was like back in the day at the Colonial Complex

Experience a blend of old and new at York’s Central Market. Find fresh produce, baked goods, and arts and crafts from dozens of local vendors. The brick building dates back to the 19th century and is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can make the market your weekly go-to spot.

Check out our countless parks and trails, like the Heritage Rail Trail County Park. Hike or bike along the trail featuring train tracks and historical sites.

Beyond things to do, there’s always an event going on. Enjoy live theater, music concerts, art festivals, and more year-round!
