Tourism Impact
We know the tourism industry suffered a massive loss in visitor spending and travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic – an impact from which we're still recovering.
Although job growth numbers and total visitor spending in our region was down by more than a third in 2020, that decline is well below what some of our neighboring regions across the state experienced – nearly a 50% loss in some areas.
Furthermore, while visitor spending dipped below the $1 Billion mark, York County became the leading PA region for visitor spending in 2020 due largely in part to our outdoor product experienced relatively.
We're happy to report in late 2021 and early 2022, post-pandemic, all signs pointed to recovery and visitors were out exploring York County.
