Made Here
York County is known for creating some of the world’s favorite products. From Harley-Davidson motorcycles to Animal Crackers to artisan soaps, if you love it, there is a good chance it’s made here.
If you are a foodie, you need to visit York County, PA, and discover the many fabulous foods produced in our area. Not only can you taste these treats here, you can watch as they’re made. Walk the factory floor at Martin’s Snacks, feet away from the fryers, as slices of potatoes are transformed into crispy chips. The owners of Caputo Brothers Creamery studied the art of cheese-making in Italy, traveling across the country to learn its secrets. Today they create world-class Italian cheeses from their artisanal store in Spring Grove. Revonah Pretzels are a masterpiece of the baker’s art. Made from their original sourdough recipe, hand twisted, salted, and baked in a 70-year-old hearth brick and stone oven, their pretzels are slowly dried in a heated kiln, which creates the perfect crunch.
If gears are more your style, watch a legend come to life with a tour of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company's York Vehicle Operations Plant™. Harley-Davidson has been producing these iconic bikes in York County since 1973, and you can walk the factory floors as these powerful machines are assembled.
York County’s manufacturing spirit isn’t limited to snacks and motorcycles. Sunrise Soap Company makes their all-natural body products with the best ingredients the earth has to offer. Made by hand in their open-air kitchen, you can watch as everything from bars of soap, to bath fizzies, or lip balms are made. Take a seat and get in on the action at the Creation Station where you can make and take your own creation.
Artists and artisans have also found a home here. Watch as craftspeople create everything from beautiful stained-glass art at Candi J. Duda Stained Glass & Garden Art to gleaming countertops at Frank’s Marble and Granite to world-class instruments at Bluett Brothers Violins.
Every summer, Explore York likes to shine a spotlight on the maker’s spirit that fills our county and the surrounding area with the Made In America Event. Local businesses, factories, manufacturers, and farms throw open their doors and invite visitors inside to watch as their favorite products are made here.
There are so many ways to discover the maker’s spirit here in York County, request a travel guide and get started making your travel plans.
