There’s nothing quite like the crisp crunch of locally grown produce or the juicy sweetness of freshly picked fruit. You’ll find bountiful offerings, including delicious baked sweet and savory treats, artisan creations, and greenhouse plants in the many farmers markets of York County, PA. Although many markets are open year-round, days and hours of operation may change seasonally, just like the selection of fresh produce and goods.

Due to a devastating April freeze, many York County farms lost their fruit crops this year and have had to make adjustments. Our hardworking local farmers need our support now more than ever, so plan some outings to York County farm markets throughout the summer to see what's new. 

Central Market House

Downtown York

In the heart of Downtown York, Central Market House features more than 50 vendors and countless experiences to fill your basket, belly, and soul. Enjoy a selection of produce, meat, fish, and baked goods. In addition, treat yourself to specialty foods and unique creations from the many talented chefs, bakers, and artisans of York County. The market is open 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and 5-9 p.m. on the first Friday of every month (select vendors have additional hours). Penn Market

Downtown York

Penn Market opened in 1866 and is the oldest farmers market in York, PA. The market is located in the WeCo neighborhood of Downtown York and is open 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. You’ll find dozens of vendors offering abundant fresh produce, meat and cheese, baked goods, local wine, and other non-perishable items. There’s a free parking lot adjacent to the building for your convenience. Check Facebook for special events. 

Dottie’s Family Market Complex

Dover

If shopping at a traditional corner store is on your bucket list, visit Dottie’s Family Market in Dover. You’ll love the convenience and friendliness of this quaint community corner shop—part grocer, part country-market deli, and part greenhouse. While you’re at Dottie’s, fuel up at one of the only ethanol-free gas stations in the area. The offerings change with the seasons, so there’s always something new to discover at Dottie’s!

Hanover Market House

Hanover

The Hanover Market House is home to more than three dozen small businesses. Of those businesses, several vendors offer produce as either a portion of or the entirety of their operation. As a year-round indoor market operating every Saturday, this approach allows our vendors to continue serving customers throughout the winter months. Although the freeze created challenges for local growers, Hanover Market House vendors have shown remarkable resilience and adaptability, ensuring that customers can continue to access fresh fruits and vegetables while local crops recover and come into season.

The Markets at Shrewsbury

Glen Rock

The Markets at Shrewsbury features two dozen merchants selling beloved Amish baked and canned goods, locally-grown produce, fresh meats and cheeses, a variety of prepared foods, and Old Republic Distillery spirits. Additionally, market shoppers can browse a wide selection of fine PA Dutch furniture, crafts, gifts, gazebos, and more. Check out That Pig Place for a variety of catering options. 

Brown’s Orchards & Farm Market

Loganville

Brown’s Orchards & Farm Market is another local favorite. This 29,000-square-foot farm market offers fresh produce, award-winning apple cider, and a wide selection of handmade gift baskets. Open seven days a week, be sure to grab a treat from their local bakery, which is infamously one of the best in town. Brown’s has some of their own peaches and apples in the market this summer and fall. They’ll harvest five (Sentry, John Boy, Red Haven, Sunhigh and Loring Peaches) of their 13 peach crops and have plenty of their own plums available in early July. The apple crop will be ready to harvest in late August. The only items available for pick-your-own this fall will be pumpkins. Visit their cafe for coffee, breakfast, lunch, and hand-dipped ice cream.

Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market

Hellam

Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market encompasses nearly 420 acres of land and is maintained by three generations of Flinchbaughs, who have a deep pride in their farm, the environment, and providing quality products to customers. Their retail Farm Market is full of fresh produce, delicious treats baked in-house, jar goods, and gifts. This year, Flinchbaugh's will be planting a new summer crop: sweet corn! Their U-pick pumpkins will definitely be strong, and they're adding a floral pumpkin experience to the fields this fall. Be sure to check out their calendar for fun events held throughout the year, such as their Sunflower and Wildflower Experience.

Mt. Airy Orchards

Dillsburg

If you’re looking for a more hands-on experience, visit the family-owned Mt. Airy Orchards, comprised of 150 acres of fruit trees, along with a playland area and corn maze. Stop by for red and black raspberries, or blueberries which should be available through mid August. Yum! Sunflowers were planted again this year so look for those in late August. PYO apples should start right around Labor Day weekend. Pick-your-own pumpkins will begin the middle of September and include more than 40 different varieties! Be sure to visit their website for updates throughout the year.

Orchard Valley Farm

Seven Valleys

Orchard Valley Farm is a 98-acre pick-your-own farm and experience for your family and friends. Their season starts in May and goes through November where you can pick strawberries, black and red raspberries, cherries, peaches, apples, pumpkins, and more. You’ll also find wagon rides and fun for the whole family. Group tour partners, including school groups and coach buses, are welcome for agricultural history and education.

Shaw Orchards

Stewartstown

Shaw Orchards has a very good crop of raspberries this year, and blueberries also look good. Both of those seasons last most of the summer. Because of the loss of their tree fruit, they plan to have a huge planting of melons this year. Watch for them in August. PYO Gala apples will be available in September, but it will be a shorter season than normal. To keep their farm market stocked, they will be bringing in fruit periodically through the summer from farming friends from around the country. They’ve also planted lots of sweet corn and pumpkins that will be coming into season later this summer and fall. White Clover Family Farm

East York

White Clover Farm is your neighborhood family farm. They sell local produce, flowers, meats, dairy, jams, salsas, candles, and delicious scratch homemade baked goods. There are farm animals to pet and learn about too. You can visit baby Nigerian Dwarf Goats in their pasture any time they are open (free!) or book a 30-minute session to snuggle with them and learn all about the breed! Everything at the market is grown or made at White Clover or brought in from York and Lancaster farmers and small businesses.
