Keystone Craft Spirits Trail Sample Itineraries
With nearly a dozen distilleries to visit, traveling the Keystone Craft Spirits Trail will take more than one weekend. Here are some suggestions for breaking up the trail into smaller servings.
York County
Distilleries to Visit: Old Republic Distillery, Crostwater Distilled Spirits, and Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society
The perfect place to start along the Keystone Craft Spirits Trail is Old Republic Distillery, York County’s first distillery since Prohibition. Their signature cocktails and recurring Trivia and Open Mic nights always add up to a good time.
Heading north, Crostwater Distilled Spirits is home to some award-winning spirits! Their Gin and Rum have both won medals from the American Distilling Institute and The Fifty Best in New York. Taste them for yourself and see what all the buzz is about.
The Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society, while not a currently functioning distillery, is not to be missed. Learn all about the history of distilling and Pennsylvania’s frontier past at Dill’s Tavern and see the historic equipment that made York County the Birthplace of American Whiskey.
While you’re traveling this part of the Keystone Craft Spirits Trail, grab a bite at roadside stand and local favorite Smittie’s Soft Pretzels Inc., then swing over to Gifford Pinchot State Park for an impromptu picnic or quick spin around the lake.
Harrisburg & Lancaster Area
Distilleries to Visit: Midstate Distillery, Spirits Distillery Inc, and Stoll & Wolfe Distillery
With free tours and tastings on Saturdays, a trip to Midstate Distillery is a great way to start your weekend! Seasonal spirit infusions, generous happy hour specials, and a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar on Sundays only add to the fun.
Spirits Distillery Inc is the newest addition to the already exciting Mount Hope Estate, home to Mount Hope Winery, Swashbuckler Brewing Company, and the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Travelers with an adventurous spirit are sure to enjoy!
If you’re looking for award-winning rye whiskey and bourbon, our easternmost distillery is the place for you. Stoll & Wolfe Distillery is born of a distilling history that dates back to America’s colonial past, and their dedication to those traditions has resulted in some truly exceptional spirits.
Gettysburg Region
Distilleries to Visit: Mason Dixon Distillery & Restaurant, Spirits of Gettysburg Distillery, and Lake House Distilling Co
Mason Dixon Distillery & Restaurant, founded by a father and son duo, aims to combine handcrafted artistry with local flavors to create small batch spirits everyone can enjoy. Housed in a century-old furniture factory, tour their unique space to learn more about their story.
Spirits of Gettysburg Distillery strives to create artisanal liquors that can be enjoyed by sample, shot, or in mixed drinks. Sharing its home, a Civil War era building, with Battlefield Brew Works, this distillery has racked up 7 medals in national and international competitions.
Lake House Distilling Co will be opening its doors in late 2019, so make sure you’re one of the first to visit!
