York County Solid Waste Authority
Overview
The York County Resource Recover Center (RRC) is a waste-to-energy facility that uses garbage as fuel to produce steam to power a turbine to generate electricity. The RRC is designated under PA legislation as a source of “green power”. Visitors will be given an overview of the process of waste-to-energy followed by a walking tour of the facility, which includes the Tipping Floor, the Turbine-Generator Room and a mock Control Room.
