Overview

A new traveling exhibit presents a little-known story of Pennsylvania’s past. With Open Heart and Open Arms: LGBTQ Cuban Refugees and the LGBTQ Community’s Response to the Mariel Boatlift chronicles the story of LGBTQ+ Cuban refugees who came to Pennsylvania more than 40 years ago. The exhibit, produced by the LGBT Center of Central PA History Project, will be on display from June 2-30 at the York College Center for Community Engagement, 59 East Market Street in York. The Rainbow Rose Center, serving York County’s LGBTQIA+ community, is also a co-sponsor.
