1-2:30 p.m.

Presented by: Zimmerman Center for Heritage -- Susquehanna National Heritage Area

Location: Zimmerman Center for Heritage -- Susquehanna National Heritage Area

Join Zimmerman Center Director Paul Nevin to learn what a Susquehannock Winter entailed. This event will begin at 1 p.m. in the new Susquehannock gallery, followed by a guided trek to Native Lands County Park where the last traditional settlement of the Susquehannock people stood. Along the way, you will learn how a winter season so long ago was not just endured, but also enjoyed. Being exposed to the same elements while walking in “their footprints” may lead you to a better understanding of, and connection to, the Susquehannock people.

This hike is rated moderate. Please dress appropriately for the weather! Be advised the trail connecting the Nature Space to Native Lands may present wintery conditions such as snow, ice, and mud. If sufficient snowfall has taken place, snowshoes will be available during the hike and experience how Susquehannock people used snowshoes during the winter.

Space is limited and registration is required. Program may be canceled in the event of snow or poor weather conditions. Refunds will be provided.
