There are many fantastic farmers markets around York County, PA, where you can pick up amazing fresh and local goodies for your meal -- or for a hostess gift if you’re traveling -- along with mini gourds and pumpkins to dress up your table.
Although many markets are open year-round, days and hours of operation may change seasonally, just like the selection of fresh produce and goods.
Family Farms and More
At Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market in Hellam, they are all about the fresh bounty from their farm and local community. Their bakery includes fresh breads, fruit pies, cupcakes, cookies, and pumpkin rolls. Check out their cold case for local meat and dairy products, as well as apple cider, and browse their selection of jarred jams and dressings.
Nearby White Clover Family Farm has developed a loyal following thanks to Farmer Nate’s entertaining Facebook posts. It’s a great place to pick up items for your Thanksgiving table and your purchases support local farmers and other good causes.
Orchard Valley Farm in Seven Valleys is a 98-acre pick-your-own farm; their season starts in May and goes through November. They post to Facebook daily what is currently being carried in their market.
In Dillsburg, check out Mt. Airy Orchards for more local apples and fresh produce. They also offer baked goods along with many shelves of their own preserves, syrups, salsas, jarred fruits and vegetables, and more. Their expanded market also carries table and room décor for the holidays.
If shopping at a traditional corner store is your preference, visit Dottie’s Family Market in Dover. You’ll love the convenience and friendliness of this quaint community corner shop—part grocer, part country-market deli, and part greenhouse.
