The National Lincoln Highway Association is bringing its annual conference — Road to Independence — to York, Pennsylvania, June 22–26, 2026! In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, this special event celebrates freedom and the nation’s first transcontinental highway with history, heritage, and unforgettable experiences.
Explore York County’s charming towns, Underground Railroad sites, and Revolutionary War landmarks. The conference, supported by a tourism grant from Explore York, will be headquartered at the beautifully restored Yorktowne Hotel, a century-old landmark along Market Street — part of the original Lincoln Highway. York’s historic downtown, named one of America’s most beautiful Main Streets by Reader’s Digest and one of HGTV’s most charming small cities, offers the perfect setting to relive our nation’s story.
The week kicks off Monday with an opening reception at the Valencia Ballroom featuring the Unforgettable Big Band. Attendees will enjoy guided tours to Chambersburg, Gettysburg, Columbia, and Lancaster; walking tours through downtown York; and visits to the York County History Center and Crispus Attucks Center for History & Culture. Additional half-day adventures include stops at the Haines Shoe House, Wrightsville, and a scenic train ride along the Susquehanna Trail. The conference concludes with a luxury charter tour from York to Philadelphia — and plenty of Central PA flavor along the way!
The event is open to the public and special conference rates are available at the Yorktowne Hotel. For additional details and registration, visit: Lincoln250PA.org.
