YORK, PA- York County will reverberate June 6-8 with the sound of thousands of street rods, muscle cars, custom cars, trucks and specialty vehicles for the 41st Annual National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals East Plus.
Approximately 3,600 vehicles will come from across the eastern United States and beyond for Street Rod Nationals East Plus, marking the 34th year the event has been held in York County.
The NSRA Street Rod Nationals East Plus will bring an estimated $6.4 million in direct economic impact to York County and $11.2 million in total economic benefits to the community.
This year, the NSRA event brings with it the unveiling of two Limited Edition Hot Rods Forever stamps from the United States Postal Service here in York County, PA. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, at the York Expo Center.
"York County has long enjoyed the chance to see these magnificent works of art and human effort up close each year. We are proud to host the unveiling of commemorative stamps featuring truly iconic images of Americana," said Anne Druck, President of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The annual parade through downtown York will kick off at noon Friday. Cars and trucks in attendance for the show have a cumulative worth of more than $100 million - or an average of $28,000 each - and range in value up to approximately $100,000.
Activities at the York Expo Center are open to the public. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 per adult and $6 per child 6-12 years old, and there is no cost for younger children accompanied by an adult.
Street Rod Nationals East Plus will host the Pinstripe Jamboree & Charity Auction to benefit Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Pinstriping, air brushing and hand-lettering artists from across the United States will help to raise money to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
On Saturday, a lady rodders shopping shuttle from Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center will transport show participants to shopping and other attractions in downtown York, to Heritage Hills and back to the York Expo Center. The shuttle will operate 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and is free to people wearing official participant buttons.
Also as part of Street Rod Nationals East Plus, more than 100 manufacturers and dealers of specialty automotive equipment will display and sell parts, accessories and supplies. Sunday will feature the Circle of Winners at the York Expo Center.
The NSRA Street Rod Nationals East Plus is produced by the National Street Rod Association, the "fun with cars" sanctioning organization with worldwide membership. For more information, visit www.nsra-usa.com.
