YORK, PA - The York County Tourism Grant Committee has approved three additional funding requests, bringing the total amount awarded in 2017 to more than $1 million.
The York County Community Foundation will receive $100,000 to lead a collaborative York County branding initiative. The Grant Committee had previously announced it had reserved the funding for the project and officially approved the grant during a voting session in late May.
In June, the Susquehanna Folk Music Society was awarded $60,000 over two years for a two-day folk and traditional arts festival to be held at Roundtop Mountain Resort on July 28 and 29, 2018.
Both the York County Community Foundation and the Susquehanna Folk Music Society applied for funding during the first round of grant awards; however, the Grant Committee requested additional information before approving the funding.
On top of the two additional projects from Round 1, the Grant Committee also approved a $15,000 timely opportunities grant to assist the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau in hosting Emmy-winning travel journalist Peter Greenberg in June. Greenberg filmed a York County segment that will air on PBS affiliates nationwide in early 2018, as well as hosted his nationally syndicated radio show from Heritage Hills Golf Resort & Conference Center.
With the three additional projects, the Grant Committee has now approved $1,001,961 in grant awards, with several spanning multiple years.
The York County Tourism Grant Program is now open for a second round of smaller awards. The maximum individual grant request is $10,000. All grant applicants must provide a 25 percent cash or in-kind match.
Applications are due August 1. The Grant Committee will announce Round 2 recipients by October 12.
The timetable for the next round of large grants will be similar to this year, with an application period opening in early 2018 and awards by June.
When timely opportunities arise, the Grant Committee will also entertain funding requests outside the normal deadlines.
Requirements and restrictions can be found at www.yorkpa.org. Questions about the application process may be directed to the York County CVB.
