YORK, PA - The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes the return of The Columbus Crusade Open and Duals wrestling competitions to the York Expo Center's Utz Arena this weekend.
Held on Saturday, the Open tournament will feature 500 wrestlers from more than 15 states. The Duals, a team tournament, will take place Sunday with 68 teams and more than 1,000 wrestlers from around the country taking part.
The weekend wrestling event is another economic boom for York County, which will see a payoff of about $655,000 as athletes and their families come to York for the weekend's wrestling events. In 2016 alone, sports-related tourism is expected to generate an economic impact of more than $26 million, another reminder that the York County CVB has established itself as a leader in the market with its Sport York initiative.
This is the second consecutive year York County has hosted The Columbus Crusade Open and Duals. The competition's organizer, Tyrant Wrestling, will also bring its Tyrant Duals back to York in January 2017 after hosting the same event here earlier this year.
