YORK, PA - As National Travel & Tourism Week kicks off, the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau thanks the local attractions, hotels, restaurants and countless other businesses and people who have helped build a nearly $1 billion local tourism industry.

The 34th Annual National Travel & Tourism Week runs May 7-13. It's a yearly salute to the travel industry, which supports 15.3 million jobs nationwide and generates $2.3 trillion for the U.S. economy, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

This year's NTTW theme, "Faces of Travel," shines a spotlight on the people that make up America's travel industry.

"People form the foundation of the tourism industry, and we're thankful to have an abundance of committed individuals who together have made our home a destination for leisure, business and sports travelers," said Anne Druck, President of the YCCVB. "Whether they're visiting one of our famed factory tours, reliving the American Revolution in Downtown York or checking into one of our many comfortable lodging locations, travelers are bound to see the friendly faces of York County tourism during their time here."

Visitors spend nearly $1 billion annually in York County, and the tourism industry supports more than 7,600 jobs here and helps generate over $90 million in state and local tax revenue.

York County's tourism industry is comprised of a strong network of attractions, covering everything from factory tours, outdoor adventures, craft beverages and plenty in between. The YCCVB features more than 280 member organizations, all committed to creating a vibrant experience for travelers.

The YCCVB will celebrate its Faces of Travel during a Thursday morning breakfast event for members at The Accomac. Attendees will choose the winner of the Explore York PA #YorkInBloom spring Instagram photo contest.
