YORK, PA - The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau invites all interested parties to attend one of two upcoming workshops to learn how to leverage the new York County Tourism Grant Program to invest in their business while supporting our thriving local tourism industry.
Workshops will take place:
- 8 a.m. January 4, at the White Rose Hall at PeoplesBank Park, 5 Brooks Robinson Way in York and
- 1:30 p.m. January 12, at the Hanover Heritage & Conference Center, 22 Carlisle Street in Hanover.
Those interested should RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate which meeting they plan to attend and the total number of their party. In the case of inclement weather, snow dates are January 5 and 13.
The grant program is open to private for-profit organizations, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies and is designed to offer financial support to initiatives deemed capable of generating broad and substantial benefit to York County tourism.
Initial grant proposals are due to the committee February 15 and must be a request for $2,500 or more. Recipients will be announced on June 1. A second round of consideration will be made for grants of $10,000 or less. Grants may also be awarded when unexpected circumstances arise, with those considerations made on a case-by-case basis.
There is no set number of grant awards to be made in any fiscal year. Grants require a cash or in-kind match of 25 percent of the awarded amount.
A Grant Committee will make final grant decisions, while the York County CVB will provide industry expertise.
County Commissioners and the York County CVB recently agreed to a memorandum of understanding governing the distribution of the local hotel room tax proceeds, which fund the York County CVB and the grant program.
York County is the first in the state to invest nearly half of its room tax proceeds in a tourism grant program. For more information about the grant program, please visit www.yorkpa.org and click on the "About Us" button at the top of the homepage.
