YORK, PA-The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau will move the Downtown York Visitor Information Center and its administrative offices from 149-155 West Market Street in York to new locations in the city during the second half of 2014.
The visitor center will be relocated to Central Market, 34 West Philadelphia Street, late this summer. Administrative offices for CVB staff will be moving to 60 East North Street, near Santander Stadium, later this year.
"These are incredibly exciting times for the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau as we expand the organization's ability to serve guests in our community," said Anne Druck, President of the York County CVB. "The resurgent and popular Central Market is the perfect venue to welcome visitors, and we are proud to enter this partnership with the City of York and Central Market."
The City of York has long partnered with the York County CVB to support the visitor center in downtown, and the partnership and investment will continue at the new location. Adding a third partner, Central Market will provide the ideal place to welcome guests beginning in late summer.
The Downtown York Visitor Information Center opened in its present space 15 years ago. The York County CVB's staff moved into offices above the visitor center 12 years ago.
Central Market had expressed interest in using the former market master's office for a visitor center. While pursuing the relocation, the York County CVB also took the opportunity to assess its own administrative facility needs.
The new offices on East North Street provide higher visibility for the organization in another vibrant area of the city as well as a cost-effective lease agreement and additional space.
