This week as Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) across the state celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCCVB) announced they are now doing business as Explore York.

For many years Convention & Visitors Bureaus have been moving away from the traditional CVB titles because the terminology doesn’t resonate with today’s travelers.

“Changing our organizational name to Explore York broadens our scope and creates a call to action or invitation, it tells the visitor what we want them to do and it speaks to meeting planners, groups and sport organizers” said Laura Gurreri, President of Explore York.

The name Explore York will reduce the confusion about Explore York’s purpose and reinforce the organization's marketing efforts.

Louise Heine, Destination Marketing Director for Explore York believes “As York County’s Official Tourist Promotion Agency, our brand strategy should focus on the destination itself, rather than on the organization”.

The web address will remain the same until later this fall when the organization will launch a new website, domain and brand.

Along with the name change Explore York celebrated NTTW at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Vehicle Operations with a networking event and tours. They were also invited to the Capital where the Honorable Carol Hill-Evans presented them with a declaration acknowledging May 6 as Explore York Tourism Day.

Explore York’s mission is to maximize tourism expenditures and their economic impact in York County, PA, through comprehensive tourism sales and marketing programs. The vision is for a York County where tourism is recognized for the value of its economic impact and its role in raising the profile of York County as a sought-after destination For more information on Explore York call 1-888-858-9675 or visit www.yorkpa.org.
