YORK, PA - The "World's Greatest Train Meet" returns to York County this month and brings thousands of visitors eager to find the perfect model train for the holiday season.

Up to 12,000 people are expected to converge upon the York Expo Center for the second of two annual shows produced by the Eastern Division of the Train Collectors Association. The general public is again invited to experience a show that's become one of the most anticipated events of the year for train enthusiasts.

The three-day meet is reserved for members only on Thursday, October 19, but the doors open to the public Friday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Public access is reserved to the dealer halls, but visitors may join the TCA on the spot to see the entire event.

"The fall meet is the perfect place to find the essential, picturesque train for around the Christmas tree or to include in any of your holiday displays," said Mike Petronella, Meet Chairman for the Eastern Division TCA. "Not only that, but this show is a great opportunity to introduce a whole new generation to the joys of model trains. Buy a train and accessories for the special child in your life and give them a lifelong hobby, or just buy yourself a gift."

One-day public passes good for Friday or Saturday are $14 (includes spouse and children under 18, or the two-day pass is available for $20 (includes spouse and children under 18).

"With so many people traveling from across the country to be a part of the meet, it is expected that the event will generate almost $7 million in economic benefits for the local economy," said Anne Druck, President of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau. "This event has become a staple for us, and we always look forward to welcoming our model railroading friends back to York County for the fall meet."

While serious collectors will find new and vintage trains to peruse throughout the show, kids and the young at heart will marvel at the operating layout by the Lower Susquehanna Valley Railroaders. The Eagle Line Railroad will also be displaying an action packed train layout.
