YORK, PA - The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau announces that York County will host the 2017 Pennsylvania State USBC Pepsi Youth Championships, bringing the state's best young bowlers to the Suburban Bowlerama in York Township from May 6-7, 2017. The tournament is estimated to generate about $167,000 in economic impact for the county.

York County is familiar territory for The Pepsi Youth Championships, which were also held here in 2015 and 2008. About 600 participants, ranging in age from 8 through 20, will fill the lanes at the Suburban Bowlerama when the event returns.

"We're excited to return to York County for the 2017 Pennsylvania State USBC Pepsi Youth Championships. With several qualifying centers, the region is a proven host site," said Jay Daryman, Association Manager for Pennsylvania State USBC Youth. "The Suburban Bowlerama is an ideal fit for us, and the York County CVB has been a valuable partner in assisting us with housing needs and more."

The event will feature the Pepsi Championships, a scratch singles event, and a Handicap Scholarship Singles tournament. Both boys and girls will compete. Bowlers must advance through league-level and then district-level qualifiers to make it to York County for the state finals.

Statewide, the Pepsi Championships will award $48,000 in scholarships, with $28,000 coming at the state finals. The Handicap event will award $18,000 in scholarships - $8,000 at districts and another $10,000 at the state finals. York County, Pennsylvania's Premier Sports Destination, will also come out a winner.

"We're thrilled to be hosting next year's Pepsi Youth Championships. It's a chance to showcase the Suburban Bowlerama, one of the finest independently owned bowling centers in the country," said Jim Plessinger, General Manager of the bowling alley. "The entire York County community benefits when we attract events of this caliber."
