YORK, PA – Laura Gurreri is celebrating her 20th year with Explore York! Gurreri began her career in 2002 as an Office Assistant after graduating from Lock Haven University with a bachelors degree in recreation management. During her tenure at the organization, she has held nearly every position in the sales department including director of sales for more than a decade. In 2018 Gurreri was unanimously approved by the board of directors to serve as the president of Explore York.
“Laura has dedicated most of her adult life to growing the economic impact of tourism in York County,” said Chair of the Board of Directors Christina McCullough. “We are truly blessed to have her as a leader in both this organization and the county promoting York as a great destination to live, work, stay, and play.”
Since taking on the role of president, Gurreri has seen tourism in York County grow to a billion dollar industry, weathered a global pandemic, and helped to diversify the board of directors. A Certified Sports Event Executive and a Certified Destination Management Executive, Gurreri has been instrumental in creating and building the Sport York brand, a key driver of the organization’s growth. The organization has attracted many sports events and tournaments by promoting York County as Pennsylvania’s leading sports destination.
Born and raised in York County, Gurreri takes Explore York’s mission to heart. Not only does she serve as Explore York’s president, but she is also a member of the Rotary Club of York, York County Trail Towns Steering Committee, YoCo Strong Recover Task Force Hospitality Committee Co-Chair, and participates in the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association Southern Chapter.
“It has been my honor to learn and grow along with Explore York,” said Gurreri. “I could not have asked for a better cause to dedicate my career to than growing the economy of the area where I grew up. I am excited to take us further as I continue to serve as the president of Explore York for years to come.”
