York County's annual spectacular annual Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights lights up your holiday season this December.

This half-mile walking trail (think easy strolling) at Rocky Ridge County Park will take you and your family through indoor and outdoor holiday spectacles, including more than half a million lights, Santa Claus, animated displays and more!

With a schedule beginning November 27, and so much more holiday fun waiting for you throughout December, there will be an evening of joy and cheer waiting for you not matter when you decide to Explore York.

Steam Into History

From Cool Yule with the King himself to a caroling ride, Steam Into History invites you aboard throughout December with many eclectic holiday-themed train trips through the beautiful York County countryside.

Even take the train and then a carriage to pick out your perfect tree on the Tannenbaum Train!

Along the way, hot chocolate, stove heat and the warmth of the holiday spirit will keep you and your loved ones comfy and cozy on these can't-miss holiday excursions.

First Friday - Light Up Night

First Friday on December 4 in Downtown York is Light Up Night. This multicultural celebration features live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food, carol singalongs, the lighting of the York City Christmas Tree, and the arrival of the most important guest: Santa Claus.

Holiday Shows & Happenings

Hailing from historic County Wateford in Ireland, Danú on December 4 leads off an outstanding month at the historic Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York that also includes Midstate Ballet: The Nutcracker December 12-13.

And since a stay in York puts you in the heart of PA's renowned tourist region, you can also choose from A Christmas Story or Jingle Bells, Batman Smells at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, the Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound Theatres, and an array of shows along with the season-long Holiday Trains & Trees at Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.

For holiday presents, check out the Red Lion Bed and Breakfast through December 6 that's been transformed into Grandma's Holiday Craft Show.

Or, looking for quirky?

Heritage Hills Golf Resort hosts a Jingle Jangle with a dinner buffet, games, a photo booth, cash bar - and an ugly sweater contest! Break out your worst and come join the party December 11 with special musical guests Yukon Cornelius & The Bumbles.

Along the Susquehanna River, mark your calendars for Tea Time with Mrs. Claus December 12 at the National Watch & Clock Museum, and spend the night to enjoy An Old Fashioned Christmas in Columbia December 13.

Then there's Holidays at Mount Hope featuring a different kind of interactive experience including mingling with a host of characters and multiple holiday performances throughout most of December.

Drop in for New Year's Eve

Bring in the New Year with the City of York's New Year's Revolution celebration, featuring the dropping of the White Rose, a fireworks display, live entertainment, and more. Plus, ringing in the New Year here will make you one of the first to celebrate York's 275th birthday in 2016.

Or, if you're still looking for quirky after Heritage Hills' ugly sweater contest earlier in the month, trek north and see the annual Pickle Drop at midnight on the square in Dillsburg, followed by fireworks.
