More than 300 community members gathered at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts for a special screening of Travels with Darley: Communities that Shaped America, an episode highlighting York County alongside fellow historic destinations including Gettysburg, Brandywine, and Vicksburg.

Hosted by Explore York, the event celebrated the people, places, and stories that continue to shape York County today. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to see local landmarks and businesses featured in the nationally-broadcast travel series, including Victor’s Italian Restaurant, John Wright Restaurant, Susquehanna National Heritage Area, Dills Tavern, The Yorktowne Hotel, Central Market York, the Royal Square District, and Perrydell Farm and Dairy.

Following the screening, guests heard from a panel of local experts who helped bring York County’s story to life. Panelists representing Northern Central Railway, the York County History Center, and York Architecture Illustrated shared insights about the region’s rich heritage and its continued relevance today.

The event also welcomed several special guests, including Miss Pennsylvania and elected officials from across the region, underscoring the strong community pride surrounding York County’s history and cultural assets.

The screening served as both a celebration of York County’s past and an exciting preview of the growing national attention the region is receiving as communities across Pennsylvania prepare to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
