A Letter from the Board Chair

Christina McCullough with Stewart & Tate Construction

Christina McCullough Dear Valued Member,

It has been just over a year since I accepted the role of Board Chair for Explore York, and what a year it has been! The team has been hard at work on continued recovery efforts to bring tourism numbers near pre-pandemic. It’s been a privilege to see first-hand the dedication of the Explore York staff and the support of its members and partners.

As you comb through the details of this report, keep in mind this is but a snapshot of the work and day-to-day efforts required to market, sell, and promote all 911 square miles of York County. This is by far one of the strongest, most cohesive group of professionals Explore York has seen. From the hardworking and dedicated sales department to the creative and resourceful marketing team, its robust tourism grant program and unwavering leadership, the tourism industry of York County couldn’t ask for a better group of people leading the charge.

Research provided by the PA State Tourism Office earlier this year showed tourism spending in York County still ranks third overall in the Dutch Country Roads region, a region comprised of heavyweight hitting counties such as Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and of course York County. We need to keep this in mind as we develop sales and marketing campaigns promoting our beautiful county.

Throughout 2023, I ask for your continued support of Explore York. Please support the team through membership, its ancillary marketing programs, advertising, advocacy, and open lines of communication so they can promote your business and York County as the unique, inclusive, and welcoming destination that it is to visitors, event planners, sporting group spectators, and group tour operators alike.

In closing, I’d like to thank my fellow members of the Explore York board for the opportunity to serve in this capacity within an industry I love. I look forward to watching the organization’s continued growth and innovation. It’s my wish that the travel and hospitality industry be recognized for the value and economic impact that it brings to our community.

Sincerely,

Christina McCullough
