Fourteen family-owned wineries that intertwine from the Susquehanna River Valley in Pennsylvania to just south of the historic Mason-Dixon Line in Maryland have come together to develop a truly regional wine destination. The Mason-Dixon Wine Trail is a rebranding and expansion of the former UnCork York Wine Trail and provides an expanded visitor experience, while featuring favorite events (Tour de Tanks and Wine Just Off the Vine) visitors may remember from the UnCork York Wine Trail.

"The new Mason-Dixon Wine Trail has taken an important step to develop into a world-class wine region. Our unique soils and climate will be further recognized and defined by the trail's new expansion as we define ourselves across state lines," said Carl Helrich, owner, winemaker and grape grower of Allegro Vineyards, Brogue, PA."

Interest in wine is fueling the growth of new wineries in Pennsylvania and Maryland making a wine trail a savvy way to market the experience for a thirsty visitor. A survey conducted by the Wine Market Council indicates that 20% of the United States adult population enjoys wine at least once a week. That equals a total of 46 million people in our country representing a 10% increase since 2000. In 2009, Pennsylvania wineries saw 894,000 visitors according to a study by the MFK Research for the Pennsylvania Wine Marketing and Research Program.

“Since its launch in 2005, the UnCork York Wine Trail has experienced tremendous growth featuring wineries from across four Pennsylvania counties. We have witnessed the economic benefits of this regional agri-tourism product and look to increase the impact as we lay the ground work for a new wine region,” said Anne Druck, President of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This new identity better reflects the experience and footprint visitors enjoy along our trail, while allowing us to welcome new partners across the state border.”

As more visitors seek out wine travel as integral to their vacation itineraries, the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail will offer a new, multi-state wine region featuring high-quality wines at affordable prices, welcoming winemakers and exclusive events that take you behind the scenes into the art of transforming grapes into wine.

Members of the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail include Adams County Winery, Allegro Vineyards, Boordy Vineyards, Cullari Vineyards & Winery, Fiore Winery, Four Springs Winery, Hauser Estate Winery, Hummingbird Ridge Winery, Moon Dancer Vineyard & Winery, Naylor Wine Cellars, Reid's Orchard & Winery, Tamanend Winery, The Vineyard at Hershey (Opening February 2012) and West Hanover Winery.

Cast Your Vote & Enter to Win!
Fans of the NEW Mason-Dixon Wine Trail can help select the new logo by logging onto www.MasonDixonWineTrail.com to vote for their favorite design. Everyone who votes online by Wednesday, September 21st will be entered to win 2 FREE Tickets to the 2011 Wine Just Off The Vine Event.
