Strong Concepts, Great Execution Enable the York County CVB to Attract Leisure Visitors through Iconic Destination Brands

Published: 05/14/2014

They have time on their hands and money in their pockets. They're leisure travelers, and for destinations with battlefields and chocolate factories, they're low-hanging fruit.

But areas like York have to be hungrier, more creative and more aggressive if we hope to attract this group of people.

That's why the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau has conceived and developed several strong regional brands, including "The Factory Tour Capital of the World," the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail, the Susquehanna Ale Trail, and Sport York.

• "The Factory Tour Capital of the World," a brand we established over a decade ago, features 23 York County manufacturers that offer tours year-round. And each year, thousands of additional guests experience the special tours and attractions offered during our June "Made in America" tours event.

• The Mason-Dixon Wine Trail has more than two dozen wineries and vineyards and one distillery participating in an array of signature events such as the spring Tour de Tanks and autumn Wine Just Off The Vine events.

• The newly-formed Susquehanna Ale Trail is bringing similar economic bounce to area micro-breweries thanks to the union of nine establishments all committed to creating good times and great beer.

• Sport York aggressively courts a wide variety of youth and adult sporting events by leveraging the area's outstanding facilities and packaging them with our centralized location and our many wonderful amenities.

The combined impact of these four powerful brands? Thousands of visitors. Tens of millions of dollars. And steady growth, year after year.

Plus, these brands add to York County's allure, making the county more attractive to the best and brightest prospective employees for county businesses, while making life better for those of us who live here.

The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, York County's Official Tourist Promotion Agency, is constantly investigating opportunities to promote York County as a great place to visit and explore. It's a purpose that benefits every single one of us.
