YORK, PA - Handmade pasta and a beautiful location in a former church have drawn visitors to Victor's Italian Restaurant for years, and now the restaurateur behind one of Pennsylvania's top Italian eateries has assumed a leadership role with the organization tasked with attracting travelers to all of York County.

Mark Sindicich, the Managing Partner of Victor's in Spring Garden Township, assumed the role of Board Chair for the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau effective July 1. He succeeds Liz Winand, who was board chair the past two years.

"This is an exciting time to lead the York County CVB Board of Directors. York County's tourism industry has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past decade. Visitor spending has risen for six consecutive years and is approaching $1 billion annually," Sindicich said. "We expect even greater success after the brand-new York County Tourism Grant Program awarded more than $800,000 in inaugural funding in May. Robust demand for local lodging options continues to pump even more resources into the local tourism industry through York County's room tax, only positioning us for further growth."

Before being selected as Board Chair, Sindicich served on the Executive Committee and as Secretary from 2015-2017. He joined the board in 2012.

"York County's tourism industry is rolling, and Mark's business experience makes him well-suited to build upon recent successes. The YCCVB is fortunate to have such a capable steward to lead it over the next two years," said Winand, who will remain on the board as immediate past chair.

Each board chair serves two years, followed by a year as past chair.

As managing partner of Victor's, Sindicich has presided over a restaurant that's both a local favorite and a dining destination for those very visitors checking into York County hotels. In 2014, Victor's earned national acclaim when Thrillist named it one of Pennsylvania's 10 best restaurants outside Philadelphia.

Executive Chef George Sheffer's culinary acumen has earned Victor's plenty of praise, including "Best of York" designations for Italian Restaurants (2009 to 2014) and Fine Dining Restaurants (2010 and 2015). Susquehanna Style Magazine named it the Best Italian Restaurant in York from 2013 to 2016, and it was an OpenTable Diner's Choice Award winner from 2013 through 2016.

Sindicich also holds a bachelor's degree in science, industrial and manufacturing engineering from Penn State University and brings an impressive business background to the board. He is the Business Enterprise & Management Developer for Air Dynamics Industrial Systems Corporation as well as Development Advisor at Exceleran Capital Management. Sindicich also previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Bituminous Paving Materials of York for more than 23 years, among other positions.

The Board of Directors exercises fiscal oversight, governs the YCCVB and manages the bureau president. It includes 15 voting seats - five for local attractions, five for lodging, two for restaurants/visitor services and one each for York County, the City of York and the state legislative delegation. The YCCVB president and treasurer serve as non-voting members.

The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau's Mission is to maximize tourism expenditures and their economic impact in York County, PA, through comprehensive tourism sales and marketing programs. The York County CVB's Vision is for a York County where tourism is recognized for the value of its economic impact and its role in raising the profile of York County as a sought-after destination.
