YORK, PA - York County's natural beauty, deep history and manufacturing ingenuity will earn a national audience after Emmy-winning travel journalist Peter Greenberg spent part of June shooting a television segment for PBS' "The Travel Detective" here in the Factory Tour Capital of the World®.

Greenberg's production crew spent three days filming across York County, experiencing everything from kayaking the majestic Susquehanna River, the art of hand-twisting pretzels and the brilliant green vineyards of Southern York County. The footage will be used in the "Like a Local" segment in the next season of Peter Greenberg's "The Travel Detective," a 30-minute show that airs on PBS member stations across the United States.

In addition to the television segment, Greenberg also taped his weekly "Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show" from York County and spoke to local historians, journalists, artists and community leaders.

"Peter Greenberg truly experienced York County like a local, and we're eager to showcase our wonderful network of attractions with travelers from all over the United States and beyond," said Louise Heine, Destination Marketing Director for the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Hosting Peter Greenberg is a once-in-a-decade opportunity, and the YCCVB offers its sincerest thanks to everyone who made this production possible. York County's hospitality was on full display for Peter Greenberg and his production crew, and we welcome all travelers to experience our destination after learning more from ‘The Travel Detective' and the ‘Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show.'"

Greenberg's journalistic achievements are extraordinary and have made him a go-to expert on global travel. He is the travel editor for CBS News and has won multiple Emmys as a producer and host of TV documentaries and specials. He's also a New York Times best-selling author and award-winning journalist for national print, online and television outlets, as well as host of his nationally syndicated radio show and PBS television series.

The "Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show" is broadcast from a different global location every weekend and features local guests, as well as call-in interviews with listeners and newsmakers from around the world. In its 17th season, it airs on more than 119 stations and reaches majors markets from Philadelphia to Los Angeles and in between.

The radio show taped in York is scheduled to air 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST, Saturday, July 22. A live stream will be available at PeterGreenberg.com. The "Like a Local" television segment will air sometime in early 2018. Specific viewing details will be released when available.
