Frequently Asked Questions

Made In America Tours Event
Frequently Asked Questions

1. When are York County’s Made In America Tours?
June 17-20, 2009

2. What is York County’s Made In America Tours?

Also known as Manufacturers Days, the event offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the making of some of America’s favorite products. Step onto the manufacturing floors for a first-hand look at American craftsmanship.

3. Would my children enjoy this?

Absolutely. There are fascinating tours and attractions that engage children of all ages.

4. Do I need to make reservations?

In most cases reservations are not required, however some tours do ask that you call ahead to reserve space. Please review the listings for the tours you wish to visit carefully.  Those that require reservations will be noted accordingly. Those with no reference to advance reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

5. Is there an admission charge?

There is not an overall admission charge for York County’s Made In America Tours, but a few of the sites do charge nominal fees to help offset operating costs. Look for the admission icon ($) next to tours and attractions with admission fees. Unless otherwise noted, the tour or attraction is free.

6. What should I wear?

Dress comfortably. You’re going to be visiting factories in June, so a suggestion is to wear layers and cool clothing. We recommend comfortable shoes, but avoid sandals/flip-flops and high heels, since safety regulations at many factories forbid them. If a tour requires items such as goggles or hairnets, those will be provided.

7. Where do I turn if I have questions?

Our travel counselors will be happy to help plan your York County experience. Call us toll-free at 1-888-858-YORK seven days a week between the hours of 9:30 am and 4:00 pm EST. You can also e-mail us at
info@yorkpa.org or visit the event website, www.factorytours.org.  We have four convenient Visitor Information Centers.

8. Can Made In America accommodate bus groups?
