Retired NASA mission commander of Endeavour and Discovery and veteran of four space flight missions, Captain Mark Kelly, will appear as the keynote speaker at the April 25, 2018 Annual Event hosted by The Manufacturers’ Association. With an extraordinary career of service to America’s military, nation and humanity, Mark Kelly has secured his place in history as a role model, modern-day pioneer, and leader of distinction.
Together with his identical twin brother Scott, Mark Kelly helped to lay the groundwork for the future of space exploration as the subjects of an ongoing and unprecedented NASA study, begun after Scott’s March 2016 return from space, on how space affects the human body. Today, Mark Kelly serves on the Commercial Crew Safety Board of SpaceX (founded by Elon Musk), and is co-founder of World View, a full-service commercial space launch provider.
“Noted for bringing nationally prominent speakers to southcentral Pennsylvania, we at The Manufacturers’ Association are delighted to welcome Mark Kelly to our event, which again is supported by our event sponsor, RKL,” said Tom Palisin, the organization’s executive director. “With a storied personal background of exploration, courage and experiences in both the air and space, to the best of our knowledge Mark’s address will represent the first time a NASA pioneer has appeared in the local area to speak about the future of civilization, exploration, and the importance of education and technology in furthering Mankind’s advancements,” noted Palisin.
The Association’s April annual gathering ─ hosted at The Pullo Center on the York campus of Penn State University ─ traditionally brings together upwards of 1,000 business and community leaders for an evening of business networking, great cuisine, and the occasion to recognize outstanding manufacturers from throughout the region for their contributions to business and community during the previous year.
Kelly’s keynote will be followed by a book-signing of his latest book. Single tickets for the 2018 Annual Event are $85 per person, with student tickets at $40 (with a valid student ID). Tickets can be ordered at the Association’s website, www.mascpa.org. Event sponsorships are also available for area businesses, in conjunction with Mark Kelly’s appearance.
