Enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful countryside of York County to Hanover Junction, PA, on a historic railway that dates back to the late 1820s. Ride along with a 1957 PA GP 9 (converted to GP 10 in 1979) at the only place in the world where an original Pennsylvania railroad locomotive runs on a genuine Pennsylvania rail line. Enjoy the countryside and your visit to the Hanover Junction Museum on the stopover. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps from York Pennsylvania is happy to celebrate it’s sixth year of existence providing traditional fife and drum music in a positive, educational and fun environment. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps is open to students from age 8-18 and requires no previous experience, just the desired to learn and perform the music that forged our great nation . Our repertoire includes patriotic favorites such as Yankee Doodle and Battle Hymn of the Republic, as well as popular folk tunes like Camptown Races and Oh Susanna. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps has been honored to perform at events such as The 4th of July Fireworks Bash, The Harrisburg Senators and York Revolution games, The Pennsylvania Horse Show and many other community events. We hope our listeners will take a step back in time with us as we celebrate our nation’s history. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps is proudly under the direction of Zane Ruth and Nicole Seiberling. First Capital Fife and Drum will ride the train and perform on the grounds at Hanover Junction. This is their third year performing for Steam in History and are always a welcome addition.
