For a true taste of summertime in York County, try these cocktail recipes from the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail and Keystone Craft Spirits Trail. They pair perfectly with cookouts, a day at the beach or cool summer evenings spent on the front porch.
The taste of summer berries fills a martini glass with The Lovely Cosmo, dreamed up by Lisa Weaver at John Wright Restaurant. It makes use of Old Republic Distillery's Love Potion, which carries flavors of strawberry and blueberry.
- 2 oz. Love Potion
- 1.5 oz of ORD Blackberry Vodka
- A splash of simple syrup
- A splash of lime juice
Just shake and pour in chilled martini glass. Enjoy!
Relaxing on the porch with an iced tea is a summer in a glass, but Naylor Wine Cellars has a recipe that will make it even better. It's the Peachy Mint Tea, and it showcases the winery's Peaches Plus Wine.
- 1 Gallon freshly brewed iced tea
- 1 bottle of Naylor's Peaches Plus wine
- Mint Simple Syrup to taste
- Simple Syrup recipe
- Fresh mint
- 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar
Bring the water and mint to a boil in a medium saucepan and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain the mint leaves, add the sugar and bring to a boil again, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool and sweeten tea as desired.
This last one is super simple to make at home. Of course, you could always visit the vineyard and enjoy one there.
- 1 bottle of Thunder Ridge wine
- 1 bottle of water
- 1 packet of D'Marie mix
All you need to do is stir until dissolved, place the mixture in a ziplock bag and place it in the freezer. A couple hours later, you'll have wine slushies that taste just like the ones at the winery!
Looking for some flavors to try? Thunder Ridge features apple, blueberry and wildflower wines, among other refreshing choices.
